    Description

Hampshire Pottery was made in Keene, New Hampshire by James Scully Taft, between 1871 and 1923. Hampshire developed a line of colored glazed wares as early as 1883, including a Royal Worcester-type pink, olive green, blue, and mahogany. This piece definitely resembles the style of Royal Worcester with its melon shaped body, cream background and golden outlined decorations. It has been hand painted with beautiful purple flowers with green and gold leaves. You do not see these types of pieces from the Hampshire Company very often anymore. This short pitcher is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. It does have crazing and some of it is darker on one side than the other. Please see pictures. IT IS RARE TO FIND ANTIQUE EARTHENWARE IN "LIKE NEW" CONDITION BECAUSE OF WEAR FROM USE AND AGE. TINY GLAZE FLAKES AND CRAZING IS NORMAL AND ADDS CHARACTER TO EACH PIECE.
